Project Information
Background
Mineral Resources are expanding their mining operations in and around the Onslow area. The Ken’s Bore is growing rapidly and the infrastructure is being put in place for the company this mine to thrive in the coming years.
Challenge
The current camp needs to be expanded as the operations grow, the expansion includes a variety of upgrades to camp amenities and 100 new rooms. Rapid Camps are supplying their trailer accomodation and the engineer have specified a hold down capacity of 28 ton per unit, due to this camp being in wind region D. Concrete blocks would be one solution however the size and cost of these is large and will interfere with the camp layout.
Solution
Rapid Exploration were the construction team and installed the new camp and amenities. JMD engineering designed an appropriate solution for the wind region rating and a variety of design depending on the asset that needed securing. Earth Anchor Systems installed 296 H50 anchors with various assemblies following the engineering design. The earth anchors take up minimal space and can be easily worked around for setting up all other services needed for the camp. Each accomodation unit had 8 x H50 that were proof tested to 3.5 ton, the install team ensures all anchors are installed correctly and assets are connected according to the design. In the Pilbara region the ground is very dense therefore the team had to pre drill pilot holes with their specialised equipment. The team having over 10 years combined experience knows how to most efficiently install anchors in varying conditions.
