BACKGROUND

Mammoet is a global company and their purpose is to lift, transport, install and decommission big objects so that their customers can grow and maintain their production capacities and infrastructures in the safest and most efficient ways possible.. The company has a strong focus on raising standards in safety and efficiency, this is to ensure they stay at the forefront of everything lifting and transportation.

CHALLENGE

The Mammoet Yard is located in Port Hedland in wind region D therefore the holding capacity of the anchors must be high. The yard contained a large variety of different assets including containers, dome shelters, fuel pods, and Adblue tanks. Port Hedland regularly gets hit with high winds therefore tying down the assets was essential to ensure a safe workplace and the peace of mind knowing their yard operations wouldn't be affected. All assets were in place and the team would have to work around the yard team and ensure

SOLUTION

Mammoet designed their solution with the recommendations of the Earth Anchor Systems team, involving the H range of Hulk Earth Anchors with various assemblies to best suit the asset being secured. The team installed 89 H50 anchors within 3 days, each anchor was proof tested. Installation team encountered softer soil than expected therefore they had to install the larger anchor size in specific areas. Anchors were strategically placed to minimise tripping hazards for high traffic areas and to avoid any underground services. Mammoet uses a lot of concrete blocks and replacing them with anchors allowed them to maximise space, minimise tripping hazards and remove the potential for sliding.
